Is A&W Restaurants halal?

No halal claim

A&W Restaurants in the US makes no halal claim. We found no mention of halal on its About and FAQ page or its menu pages, and no certifier.

The longer answer

A&W's US website (checked October 2026) has an About page with FAQ sections on A&W facts, prices and locations, deals and franchising. None of the text we could read there mentions halal or kosher, and it says nothing about how the beef is sourced.

The menu page for the hamburger describes it as "Two juicy beef patties topped with ketchup, mustard, and pickles on a lightly toasted bun." It gives no ingredient list and no halal information.

We found no halal statement or certifier for A&W's US restaurants.

What to check before you order

Treat the beef and chicken as not halal unless a specific restaurant can show a certificate. If you are ordering fries or another side, ask what shares the grill and fryer.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
