Is Benihana halal?

No halal claim

Benihana makes no halal claim for its US restaurants. We found no halal statement on its site, and the menu includes pork gyoza and a full sake and cocktail list.

The longer answer

We found no halal statement or certifier on Benihana's US website (checked October 2026). The site has no FAQ page. Its contact page and its nutritional information page do not mention halal or kosher food.

The main menu lists Pan Fried Gyoza Dumplings in pork or spicy chicken, alongside the hibachi steak, chicken and seafood the chain is known for. The menu does not say how the beef or chicken is sourced or slaughtered. Benihana also has dedicated sake, cocktail, beer and wine menus.

What to check before you order

The steak and chicken are not sold as halal. If you order seafood or vegetables, ask the chef whether it is cooked on the same hibachi grill as the meat and whether sake, mirin or other alcohol is used in the sauces.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
