Is Del Taco halal?

No halal claim

Del Taco makes no halal claim. Its ingredient lists show lard in the pork carnitas, no lard in the pinto beans, and a shared fryer for meat and meat-free items.

The longer answer

Del Taco's menu pages and its July 2026 allergen list (checked October 2026) do not mention halal. The meats are seasoned beef, grilled and crispy chicken, carne asada steak, pork carnitas and bacon. The published ingredient statement for the carnitas reads: "Shredded Pork Carnitas: Pork, Water, Lard, Seasoning". The carne asada lists "powdered beef fat".

The beans are a different matter. Del Taco publishes two bean recipes that vary by regional supplier. Both are pinto beans with seasonings and either soybean oil or palm oil, and neither lists lard. The allergen list marks the pinto beans, tortillas and fryer oil as vegetarian and vegan.

The same list carries two warnings. One says there is "a possibility for cross contact with allergens and animal products within Del Taco kitchens and prep areas." The other says: "our restaurants use the same frying oil to prepare menu items that could have meat in them." The menu also includes a beer battered fish taco.

We found no halal statement or certifier for Del Taco.

What to check before you order

None of the meat carries a halal claim. If you order bean or cheese items, know that fried items share oil with meat, and avoid anything with carnitas, bacon or the beer battered fish.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
