Is El Pollo Loco halal?
El Pollo Loco makes no halal claim, and HMS says it has not certified the chain.
The longer answer
El Pollo Loco's site (checked October 2026) does not mention halal. Halal Monitoring Services' guide page (updated September 18, 2026) says HMS has not inspected or certified El Pollo Loco and lists its status as not verified. HMS adds that it has not examined where the chicken served there comes from or how it was slaughtered. We found no corporate statement, certifier or documented halal location.
What to check before you order
The brand does not claim halal. If a location says otherwise, ask to see its supplier's halal certificate.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
