Is Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh halal?

Some items or locations

Partly. Garbanzo says its gyro and falafel are certified halal. Its website does not make the same statement for its chicken or steak.

The longer answer

Garbanzo's About page (checked October 2026) says: "Our food starts with high-quality, clean ingredients, all-natural proteins, Certified Halal gyro and falafel, and bold, house-made sauces made fresh daily." The halal wording is attached to the gyro and falafel specifically.

The same page mentions chicken shawarma and grilled steak without calling them halal. Garbanzo's menu pages show a "Halal Certified" icon in a general list of dietary badges, but the pages we read do not tie that icon to particular proteins.

The website does not name the halal certifier. We found no pork or bacon mentioned on the pages we read.

What to check before you order

The company's halal claim is for gyro and falafel. Ask at the counter whether the chicken and steak are halal at that restaurant, and ask who certifies the gyro if that matters to you.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
