Is Hattie B's halal?
Hattie B's Hot Chicken makes no halal claim. Its allergen guide marks pork in several sides, and its FAQ does not mention halal.
The longer answer
Hattie B's FAQ (checked October 2026) does not mention halal. It says: "We fry our chicken and fries in soybean oil."
The company's allergen reference guide has a pork column. It marks pork in the baked beans, bacon cheddar grits, potato salad, southern greens and pimento cheese. The fried chicken and grilled chicken are not marked for pork. The guide's disclaimer says the company cannot guarantee that ingredients are free of animal products, citing shared preparation, shared fryers and cooking areas.
The FAQ on the rewards program notes that points are not awarded for alcohol purchases, so alcohol is sold in the restaurants. Nothing on the pages we read says where the chicken comes from or how it is slaughtered.
What to check before you order
There is no halal claim for the chicken. If you eat the sides, use the pork column of the allergen guide: the beans, greens, grits, potato salad and pimento cheese are marked as containing pork.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
