Is IKEA restaurant halal?

No halal claim

IKEA makes no halal claim in the US, and its classic Swedish meatballs are made with beef and pork. The plant balls contain no animal ingredients.

The longer answer

IKEA's US product page for its HUVUDROLL meatballs (checked October 2026) says: "we've seasoned the beef and pork gently with only a few ingredients." The classic Swedish meatball sold in the US restaurant and food market therefore contains pork.

IKEA US also sells HUVUDROLL chicken meatballs, plant balls, vegetable balls and a chickpea falafel. The plant ball page says the product "Includes no animal ingredients, therefore it's a good choice for vegetarians and vegans." We found no halal statement or certifier on any of these US product pages, including the chicken meatballs, and IKEA's US FAQ page does not mention halal.

What to check before you order

Skip the classic meatballs, which contain pork, and do not assume the chicken meatballs are halal. For plant balls or veggie balls in the restaurant, ask whether they are served with the same cream sauce and utensils as the meat version.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
