Is Krispy Krunchy Chicken halal?

Depends on the location

It depends on the store. Krispy Krunchy Chicken says many locations offer halal products depending on their supplier, and tells customers to confirm with the store operator.

The longer answer

Krispy Krunchy Chicken's FAQ (checked October 2026) answers the question "Is the chicken Halal?" with: "Many locations offer Halal products depending on their supplier. Please ask the store operator to confirm Halal certification for that day's shipment." The same page says each location is independently owned and operated, and that "Independent operators may prepare additional foods on shared equipment."

The company's FAQ does not name a certifier. A Zabihah community listing for a Cleveland, Ohio store says halal chicken is approved by Krispy Krunchy and available to franchisees, and that halal franchisees use chicken certified by the Islamic Society of the Washington Area (ISWA). The listing quotes ISWA describing the poultry as mechanical slaughter with Muslims on site reciting the tasmiah. That is a community listing, not a company statement, and that particular store is marked partially halal.

Because each store is independently run and may cook other foods on the same equipment, what shares the fryer is decided store by store.

What to check before you order

Ask the operator to show the halal certificate for the chicken currently in the store, since the company says it can change with the shipment. Ask what else is cooked in the same fryer.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
