Is Lefty's Cheesesteak halal?
Lefty's Cheesesteak does not say its food is halal anywhere on its own website. The menu names no pork items, but that is not the same as a halal claim.
The longer answer
Lefty's Cheesesteak is a Michigan chain founded in 2012, with locations across metro Detroit and one listed in University Heights, Ohio. We read its menu, About page, locations list and several individual location pages (checked October 2026). None of them uses the word halal, names a certifier or says where the meat comes from.
The menu on the company site lists steak, shaved and breaded chicken, smoked brisket, corned beef, a cheeseburger, wings and a coney hot dog. It does not name bacon, ham or any other pork item. That is worth knowing, but it does not tell you how the beef and chicken were slaughtered, and the site does not say what the hot dog is made from.
Lefty's is a franchise, so individual owners may source meat differently, and some locations may tell customers their meat is halal. We could not confirm any such claim from a page we could read, so we are not listing one here.
What to check before you order
Ask the specific location whether its steak and chicken are halal, who supplies them and whether it can show a certificate. Do not assume every Lefty's is the same, since each is separately owned.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
