Is Mezeh halal?

Halal, per the brand

Mezeh describes its proteins as halal friendly, and a community listing reports the company confirmed all its meat is halal. No certificate is posted on its site.

The longer answer

Mezeh Mediterranean Grill's home page (checked October 2026) lists "halal friendly proteins" under "our commitment", alongside fresh ingredients, made from scratch and no seed oils. The site does not say which proteins that covers and does not name a certifier.

The community directory Zabihah gives more. Its listings for Mezeh in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Charlotte, North Carolina report that the company confirmed by email that "all their meat is halal" and provided halal certificates from ISWA and the Halal Food Council, with meat from Washington Lamb and Mountaire Farms Halal Poultry. That is Zabihah's report of what the company sent, not a certificate we saw ourselves.

The listings are not uniform. Gaithersburg is marked fully halal but shows alcohol served and an issue report under review. Charlotte is marked partially halal without an explanation.

What to check before you order

Ask the restaurant to confirm which proteins are halal and whether it can show a current certificate. Some Mezeh locations serve alcohol.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
