Is Nothing Bundt Cakes halal?

No halal claim

Nothing Bundt Cakes makes no halal claim. Its ingredient lists show no gelatin or lard, but the cakes contain vanilla extract and mono and diglycerides of unstated source.

The longer answer

Nothing Bundt Cakes publishes ingredient lists for its cakes (checked October 2026). In the lists we read, including Classic Vanilla and Red Velvet, we found no gelatin, lard, animal shortening, carmine or liquor. The cakes are made with eggs, butter, sour cream and cream cheese frosting.

Two points are left to the reader. The cakes list "VANILLA EXTRACT", which is normally made with alcohol, and the cake mix lists emulsifiers including "MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES" without saying whether they are plant or animal derived. The Red Velvet color is listed as Red 40 and Blue 1, not carmine.

The company FAQ has no halal question. On kosher it says: "Select Bakery locations are Kosher certified. Please contact your local Bakery to check their Kosher status." We found no halal certification for any bakery.

What to check before you order

Read the ingredient list for your flavor on the company's Ingredients and Allergens page, since seasonal flavors change. If the source of the mono and diglycerides matters to you, ask the company directly.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
