Is Rita's Italian Ice halal?

No halal claim

Rita's makes no halal claim that we could find. Its nutrition guide gives calories only, with no ingredient lists, and its toppings include Mini Gummy Bears.

The longer answer

Rita's website (checked October 2026) has a nutrition page and a downloadable 2026 Nutrition Guide. Neither mentions halal or kosher, and neither lists ingredients. The guide covers Italian ice, frozen custard, custard cookie sandwiches and toppings by calories, fat, sugar and similar values only.

The toppings in the guide include Mini Gummy Bears, Nerds and Oreo pieces. Gummy candy is commonly made with gelatin, but Rita's guide does not give the ingredients, so we cannot say what its gummy bears contain. The guide notes that "variations may occur due to differences in preparation, serving sizes, ingredients, or special orders."

We found no FAQ on the Rita's site and no statement about gelatin, alcohol-based flavorings or halal certification.

What to check before you order

Ask the shop to show you the ingredient label for the specific ice or custard flavor, and for any candy topping. Leave off gummy toppings unless the gelatin source is confirmed.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
