Is Rubio's Coastal Grill halal?

No halal claim

Rubio's Coastal Grill makes no halal claim. Its nutrition and allergen guide does not mention halal and lists beer-battered fish, a bacon burrito and alcoholic drinks.

The longer answer

Rubio's nutrition and allergen guide (checked October 2026) does not mention halal. It states that Rubio's "does not endorse or make any specific representations, claims or advice about any particular eating lifestyle or diet."

Much of the menu is seafood: fish tacos, salmon, mahi mahi, shrimp and lobster. Several fish items are beer battered, including the Signature Beer-Battered Fish Burrito and the Baja Beer Battered Shrimp Taco. The guide also lists chicken and steak, a Shrimp & Bacon Burrito, and alcoholic drinks (Mexican beer and a canned margarita).

On cross-contact, the allergen chart says the beer-battered pollock, tortilla chips, churros and chicken tenders are cooked in canola oil in a shared fryer, and that fish, tortillas, vegetables and shellfish are cooked on the same grill.

We found no halal statement or certifier for Rubio's. The guide gives nutrition and allergens only, not full ingredient lists.

What to check before you order

The chicken and steak carry no halal claim. If you eat seafood, choose grilled or blackened fish over beer-battered items and ask what else is on the grill. Chips share a fryer with the beer-battered fish.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
