Is Shake Shack halal?

No

No. Shake Shack says it does not use halal meat in its US locations.

The longer answer

Shake Shack's FAQ has a question "Is your meat halal?" and answers: "In our U.S. locations, we do not use halal meat in our menu items."

The statement is specifically about US restaurants. Shake Shack also has licensed restaurants abroad, including in the Middle East; we did not verify their halal status, so check locally.

What to check before you order

In the US the meat is not halal. If you order meat-free items, ask about shared grills and fryers. Outside the US, ask the local operator for its halal certificate.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
