Restaurants
Is Subway halal?
Subway has no halal program in the US; halal Subway restaurants are mainly a UK and overseas arrangement.
The longer answer
We found no halal statement on Subway's US menu, nutrition or allergen pages (checked October 2026). Several websites quote a Subway US line that no sandwiches are "represented as halal compliant", but we could not locate that wording on Subway's own site, so we are not relying on it.
Subway restaurants are franchises. The Zabihah directory lists well over 100 halal Subway restaurants, almost all in the UK and other countries, and only one US listing (Dearborn, Michigan). A directory listing is a community report, not a certification.
Standard US Subway restaurants serve ham, bacon and pepperoni on shared prep lines.
What to check before you order
In the US, ask the individual restaurant for a halal certificate before trusting any halal sign. In the UK, look for the halal signage at the store and confirm on Subway's UK site.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
