Is Taco John's halal?

No halal claim

Taco John's makes no halal claim. Its nutrition and allergen pages do not mention halal and say the same frying oil is used for items that may contain meat.

The longer answer

Taco John's nutrition and allergen page (checked October 2026) does not mention halal, kosher, lard or pork. It does say: "Taco John's restaurants use the same frying oil to prepare menu items that may contain animal by-products or meat." It adds that vegetarian and meat ingredients are handled in common kitchen areas and that "No items are certified vegetarian, or vegan."

The March 2025 allergen guide gives an example of the shared fryer: Potato Oles are fried in the same fryer and oil as the chicken tenders, the Alaska flounder and the Mexican donut bites. The guide lists beef, chicken, steak and fried chicken, plus breakfast items made with bacon, sausage and chorizo.

Neither document gives full ingredient lists, so we could not confirm what the refried beans are made with. Taco John's asks customers to contact it through its website for specific ingredient information.

We found no halal statement or certifier for Taco John's.

What to check before you order

The meat carries no halal claim. If you rely on bean or potato items, ask the company what the refried beans contain, and remember that Potato Oles share fryer oil with chicken and fish.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
