Is The Halal Guys halal?

Yes, certified

The Halal Guys says its chicken and beef gyro are halal-certified and posts certificates on its website.

The longer answer

The Halal Guys' FAQ (checked October 2026) states that its Halal Certifications page 'provides Halal certificates for chicken and beef gyro, which covers the entire US and Canada.' The certification page displays certificates from Halal Food Council, ISNA Canada and IFANCC (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of Canada), plus one additional certifier logo; the certificate file names suggest validity through 2025-2026. The company was founded in 1990 in New York by Mohamed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsaka and Abdelbaset Elsayed and now franchises widely. The site does not name the meat suppliers or make a separate statement about franchisee compliance.

What to check before you order

Certificates cover the chicken and beef gyro; ask the store about other items (falafel is vegetarian). Check the certificate dates on thehalalguys.com/halal-certification.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
