Is Guinness 0 halal?

No halal claim

Guinness 0 carries no halal claim. Guinness says it is brewed as regular Guinness and the alcohol is then removed by cold filtration, and lists it at 0% alcohol.

The longer answer

Guinness's US product page (checked October 2026) explains how Guinness 0 is made: the brewers "start by brewing Guinness exactly as they always have, using the same natural ingredients; water, barley, hops, and yeast; before gently removing the alcohol through a cold filtration method." So it is a fermented beer that is de-alcoholized, not a drink that was never fermented.

The same page lists "Alcohol 0%", and the Guinness US FAQ lists "Guinness 0.0" at "0% alcohol by volume (ABV)". We did not see a more precise figure, such as a trace amount, on the pages we read.

Neither page mentions halal, and we found no halal certification for Guinness 0. The FAQ also says isinglass, a fish product once used in filtration, is no longer used for Guinness Draught, Extra Stout and Foreign Extra Stout.

What to check before you order

Know that this is real beer with the alcohol removed afterward. Read the alcohol statement on the can you buy, and take that fact to the scholar or standard you follow.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
