Is Heineken 0.0 halal?

No halal claim

Heineken makes no halal claim for 0.0; Heineken Malaysia said in 2019 it is sold in non-halal zones, strictly for non-Muslims.

The longer answer

Heineken 0.0 is a brewed beer with the alcohol removed afterwards. Heineken's US page (checked October 2026) says it is brewed and fermented with Heineken's A-yeast, that the alcohol is removed by vacuum distillation, and that the label shows 0.0% alcohol by volume and is classified as alcohol free by the US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. Heineken's global product page, read in an archived August 2026 copy, says the drink "contains an extremely small amount of alcohol, maximum 0.03% ABV". Neither page mentions halal. When the drink launched in Malaysia in 2019, FoodNavigator reported Heineken's statement that it is sold only in the non-halal zone of stores, with signs saying it is "strictly for non-Muslims, aged 21 and above". That statement was made for Malaysia; Heineken has said nothing about halal for the US, and we found no halal certifier.

What to check before you order

There is no halal mark on the bottle or can. The label reads 0.0% alcohol, while Heineken's own global page gives a maximum of 0.03% ABV.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
