Is Pedialyte halal?

Some items or locations

Abbott lists several Pedialyte liquids as halal on its US product pages, but names no certifier, and its Freezer Pops page lists kosher only.

The longer answer

Abbott, the maker of Pedialyte, lists "Halal." among the product features on its US Abbott Nutrition pages (checked October 2026) for Pedialyte Oral Electrolyte Solution, Pedialyte Classic, Pedialyte AdvancedCare, Pedialyte AdvancedCare Plus and Pedialyte Fast Hydration Liters. The same pages add "Kosher made on dairy equipment." No halal certifier is named on these pages.

The Abbott page for Pedialyte Freezer Pops is different. It lists "Kosher made with pareve ingredients" and does not list halal.

The ingredient lists on the pages we read are short. The unflavored liquid is water, dextrose, and less than 0.5 percent of potassium citrate, salt, sodium citrate, citric acid and zinc gluconate. Flavored liquids add flavors, sucralose, acesulfame potassium and dyes such as Red 40 and Blue 1. No gelatin is listed on any of the pages we checked. Pedialyte's consumer FAQ page does not mention halal, and we did not check powder packs or the Sport line.

What to check before you order

Check the Abbott Nutrition page or the label for the exact Pedialyte product, because the halal listing is product by product. Freezer Pops are not listed as halal, and powders and Sport products should be checked separately.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
