Is Starbucks halal?

No halal claim

We found no halal certification claim from Starbucks for its US stores.

The longer answer

We found no halal statement on Starbucks' US website or company news site (checked October 2026). US stores sell food containing pork, such as bacon and sausage breakfast sandwiches, alongside drinks.

In May 2026 a rumor spread that Starbucks was changing policies in the US, UK and Ireland to become halal-certified. Snopes rated it mostly false: the sign behind the rumor was in a Singapore store, and Starbucks told Snopes it was posted erroneously.

Starbucks stores in some Muslim-majority countries are run by local licensees who hold local halal certification. That does not carry over to US stores.

What to check before you order

Plain coffee and tea are not the concern; check the ingredient lists for syrups, sauces, toppings and bakery items in the Starbucks app or website, and remember warmed food shares ovens with pork items.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
