Is Swiss Miss halal?

No halal claim

Swiss Miss says its products are not halal certified. Its marshmallow cocoa contains gelatin with no source stated, while the plain milk chocolate mix lists none.

The longer answer

Swiss Miss's FAQ (checked October 2026) answers "Is Swiss Miss halal?" with: "Swiss Miss products are not halal-certified. Some varieties may be suitable based on their ingredients, but we recommend reviewing the ingredient list on the package."

The FAQ confirms: "Yes, Swiss Miss marshmallows contain gelatin." The Marshmallow Cocoa ingredient list it gives includes "Marshmallows (Sugar, Corn Syrup, Modified Corn Starch, Gelatin, Natural Flavor)". The animal source of the gelatin is not stated.

The Milk Chocolate Cocoa ingredients in the same FAQ are sugar, corn syrup, modified whey, cocoa processed with alkali, hydrogenated coconut oil, nonfat milk, and less than 2% of salt, dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides and natural flavor. No gelatin is listed. The source of the mono- and diglycerides is not stated.

What to check before you order

Avoid any Swiss Miss variety with marshmallows unless the gelatin source is confirmed. On the plain mixes, read the ingredient list for gelatin and note the unspecified mono- and diglycerides.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
