Is Brach's halal?
Brach's Candy Corn lists gelatin with no source stated, plus confectioner's glaze (shellac). The brand makes no halal claim.
The longer answer
The Brach's website (checked October 2026) lists these ingredients for its Classic Candy Corn: sugar, corn syrup, confectioner's glaze (shellac), salt, dextrose, gelatin, sesame oil, artificial flavor, honey, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 3. The page does not say what animal the gelatin comes from.
Autumn Mix, which combines candy corn with pumpkins and harvest corn, also lists gelatin and confectioner's glaze (shellac).
Not every Brach's candy contains gelatin. Classic Jelly Beans list sugar, corn syrup, modified food starch, cornstarch, flavors, confectioner's glaze (shellac), carnauba wax, beeswax and colors, with no gelatin. We found no halal statement or halal certification on the Brach's site.
What to check before you order
Look for gelatin and confectioner's glaze (shellac) on the ingredient list. The candy corn and mellowcreme products we checked contain both.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
