Breyers makes no halal claim for its US ice cream. The ingredient lists we read show no gelatin or alcohol, but we could not confirm the marshmallow flavors.

Is Breyers halal? (checked October 2026)

The longer answer

Breyers' US FAQ (archived copy from January 2026, read October 2026) does not mention halal, gelatin or alcohol. Its only statement on animal ingredients concerns the Non-Dairy line, which it says is made with ingredients that "do not contain any animal ingredients or animal by-products".

The ingredient list on Breyers' product page for Natural Vanilla is "Milk, Cream, Sugar, Vegetable Gum (Tara), Natural Flavor". Natural Strawberry lists milk, strawberries, cream, sugar, whey and tara gum. Cookies and Cream and the Snickers flavor add mono and diglycerides and natural flavors, with no source given for either. None of these four lists gelatin, carmine or alcohol.

We could not verify the marshmallow flavors. The ingredient list shown on the Rocky Road product page does not mention marshmallow or almonds at all, so it appears incomplete and we did not rely on it. We found no halal certification claim from Breyers for US products.

What to check before you order

Read the carton for the exact flavor, especially Rocky Road, s'mores and candy flavors, and look for gelatin. Mono and diglycerides and natural flavors are not broken down on the label.
