Is Choco Pie halal?

No halal claim

Orion Choco Pie sold in the US lists gelatin with no source given, and we found no halal claim for it. We could not verify the ingredients of Lotte Choco Pie.

The longer answer

A Walmart listing for Orion Choco Pie Original (checked October 2026) gives the ingredients as wheat flour, sugar, corn syrup, vegetable oil, cocoa powder, whole milk powder, glucose, gelatin, lactose, egg, salt, leavening, chocolate liquor, artificial vanilla flavor, sodium caseinate, xanthan gum, soy lecithin and gum arabic. The listing describes the product as having a marshmallow filling. It does not say what animal it comes from. It is a retailer listing, not a statement from Orion.

Orion's English-language product page for its pies shows Choco Pie but says nothing about halal or the gelatin source. We found no halal statement from Orion for the Choco Pie sold in the US.

Lotte makes a separate Choco Pie. We were not able to read an official ingredient list or halal statement for it during this check, so this entry does not cover it.

What to check before you order

Treat the gelatin as unverified unless the box you are holding carries a halal logo from a named certifier. Check the brand (Orion or Lotte) and the country of manufacture, since recipes differ.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
