Is Colgate halal?
Colgate makes no halal claim on its US site. It says most of its products are vegan, but some toothpastes contain gelatin beads and no source is given.
The longer answer
Colgate's US ingredients page (checked October 2026) says: "The majority of our products are vegan and don't contain any animal-derived ingredients", animal by-products or processing aids. The word majority matters: it is not a statement about every product.
Colgate's A to Z ingredient glossary includes gelatin, described this way: "Gives shape to the beads in some of our Toothpaste formulas." The glossary does not say which toothpastes contain it or what animal it comes from. Glycerin is listed as an ingredient that "Prevents our formula from drying out", again with no source stated.
Neither page mentions halal or kosher. We found no halal certification claim for Colgate products sold in the US.
What to check before you order
Read the inactive ingredients on the box and avoid varieties listing gelatin unless Colgate confirms the source. For glycerin, ask Colgate about the specific product, since the site does not state where it comes from.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
