Is Ensure halal?

Halal, per the brand

Abbott lists Ensure Original and Ensure High Protein shakes as halal on its US product pages, though the pages we read do not name a halal certifier.

The longer answer

Ensure's US website (checked October 2026) lists "Halal" and "Kosher" under additional information for Ensure Original Milk Chocolate. Abbott Nutrition's professional product page for Ensure High Protein Shake has the same in its features list: "Halal." followed by "Kosher; made with dairy ingredients."

Neither page names the organization behind the halal statement or shows a certificate, which is why we record this as stated by the company and not as certified.

The Ensure Original page did not display its ingredient list when we read it and refers shoppers to the product label for current ingredients. We did not check every Ensure product, so do not assume the statement covers the whole range.

What to check before you order

Check the specific Ensure product's page or label for the word halal, and look for a certifier's symbol on the bottle if you want formal certification. Abbott's consumer line can say which body, if any, stands behind it.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
