Is Friendly's halal?
Friendly's grocery ice cream carries no halal claim. None of the cartons we checked lists gelatin, but its ice cream cakes and some cups list confectioner's glaze.
The longer answer
We read the ingredient lists on 85 product pages on friendlys.com in October 2026 and found no halal statement on those pages or on the contact page. This entry covers the ice cream sold in grocery stores, not Friendly's restaurants.
None of the 85 pages lists gelatin, carmine or alcohol. The marshmallow flavors use a starch-based swirl: Chocolate Marshmallow Swirl lists "water, sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, corn starch-modified, titanium dioxide (color), potassium sorbate (preservative), natural flavor, xanthan gum". Vanilla lists milkfat and nonfat milk, sugar, corn syrup, buttermilk, whey, natural flavor, guar gum, mono and diglycerides, xanthan gum, carrageenan and annatto and turmeric color.
Confectioner's glaze appears in the sprinkles and decorations on the Celebration and Jubilee ice cream cakes and in some sundae cups. The source of the mono and diglycerides is not stated.
What to check before you order
Read the ingredient list on the carton. On ice cream cakes and sundae cups, look for confectioner's glaze in the sprinkles. Mono and diglycerides are listed without a source.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
