Is Fruit by the Foot halal?

No halal claim

Fruit by the Foot is described by its maker as gelatin free, but it carries no halal claim and lists monoglycerides of unstated source.

The longer answer

The Fruit by the Foot website (checked October 2026) describes its Variety Pack as "gelatin free, and gluten free", and the Starburst variety as made without gluten, gelatin or artificial flavors.

The ingredient list shown for the Berry Tie-Dye flavor begins: sugar, maltodextrin, corn syrup, pear puree, palm and/or palm kernel oil, then 2% or less of citric acid, carrageenan, monoglycerides, sodium citrate, malic acid, xanthan gum and colors. The page does not say whether the monoglycerides come from plant or animal fat.

We found no halal statement or halal certification on the Fruit by the Foot site. The brand is made by General Mills.

What to check before you order

The label is gelatin free. The remaining question is the source of the monoglycerides, which the product page does not state.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
