Is Girl Scout Cookies halal?
Girl Scouts of the USA says every cookie flavor is kosher and halal certified but names no certifier. The one certificate we found, from IFANCA for one of the two bakers, ran to the end of 2023.
The longer answer
The Girl Scouts of the USA cookie flavors page (checked October 2026) says: "Kosher? Halal? Try them all! Every flavor variety is Kosher and Halal certified." The page does not name the certifier.
Girl Scout Cookies come from two licensed bakers, and which one you get depends on your local council. For Little Brownie Bakers, a Girl Scout council has posted a halal product certificate from the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA). It is dated November 7, 2022, names the Louisville, Kentucky bakery, and covers Do-si-dos, Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Toffee-tastic, Trefoils and Raspberry Rally. That certificate ran to December 31, 2023. We did not find a newer certificate posted online.
For the other baker, ABC Bakers, the FAQ on its own site covers kosher certification (Circle U-D) and vegan ingredients but does not mention halal, and we did not find a certificate for it. The national statement above is the only basis we found for ABC cookies.
What to check before you order
Look for the halal mark on the box, such as IFANCA's Crescent-M. If you want proof for the current season, ask your council which baker supplies it and for the current halal certificate.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
