Is Godiva halal?
Godiva's US website makes no halal claim that we could find. Its UK site says its chocolates are halal certified by the Halal Food Council of Europe, which we could not confirm for US boxes.
The longer answer
Godiva's UK website has a page titled Halal Chocolate and Kosher Chocolate (checked October 2026). It says "we have made sure that all of our chocolates are Halal certified and where possible, Kosher too." It names the certifier: the assessment "has been carried out with Godiva by the HFCE (Halal Food Council of Europe), meaning we can guarantee that all of our chocolate is considered halal certified as it contains no traces of alcohol, pork or pork derivatives."
That is a statement by Godiva's UK business about what it sells. Godiva in the United States is run through a separate US website, and we found no matching statement there. The US site has a Kosher Chocolate collection but no halal collection or halal page that we could find. Its FAQ loads through a help widget that we were not able to read, so we cannot say whether it addresses halal.
We did not find the HFCE certificate itself, and we could not confirm whether chocolates sold by Godiva in the US, including Godiva products made for US grocery stores, are covered by it.
What to check before you order
Do not assume the UK statement covers a US box. Look for a halal mark on the packaging, read the ingredients for alcohol or liqueur fillings, and ask Godiva US customer service whether the specific item is covered by the HFCE certification.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
