Is Kraft Mac & Cheese halal?

No halal claim

Kraft Mac & Cheese makes no halal claim; its cheese sauce lists enzymes and the brand's site does not say where they come from.

The longer answer

The Kraft Mac & Cheese FAQ (checked October 2026) covers recipe changes, the powdered cheese sauce, calcium, protein and phthalates, and says nothing about halal, kosher, rennet or enzyme sources. The product listings on the Kraft Heinz site show cheddar cheese made with milk, cheese culture, salt and enzymes, and enzymes again in the cheese sauce, without a source. Cheese enzymes can be microbial or animal-derived, and we did not find a current official Kraft Heinz page stating which are used. We found no US halal certifier for Kraft Mac & Cheese.

What to check before you order

The enzymes line in the cheese sauce is the thing to ask about. Contact Kraft Heinz consumer relations for the enzyme source of the specific variety.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
