Is Laffy Taffy halal?

No halal claim

Laffy Taffy lists no gelatin on its website, though it contains mono- and diglycerides of unstated source, and it carries no halal claim.

The longer answer

The Laffy Taffy website (checked October 2026) lists these ingredients for the Mixed Minis bag: corn syrup, sugar, palm oil, and less than 2% of mono- and diglycerides, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, malic acid, salt, soy lecithin, natural flavor and colors. The Strawberry rope has a near identical list. No gelatin is listed on either.

The Stretchy and Tangy bars are a different recipe. The Cherry bar lists corn syrup, hydrogenated coconut oil, malic acid, egg albumen, sodium alginate, calcium acetate, monoglycerides, natural flavor and color, and the site notes that these products contain egg.

The website does not say whether the mono- and diglycerides come from plant or animal fat, and it has no FAQ on dietary questions. We found no halal statement from Laffy Taffy or its maker Ferrara.

What to check before you order

The open question on the label is the source of the mono- and diglycerides, which the maker does not state. Check the ingredient list for the exact format you are buying.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
