Is Milky Way halal?

No halal claim

Milky Way makes no halal claim in the US. The official ingredient list for the original bar includes egg whites and no gelatin, and the brand's help page does not mention halal.

The longer answer

Milky Way is made by Mars. The US website lists the original bar's ingredients (checked October 2026) as milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, skim milk, chocolate, lactose, milkfat, soy lecithin), corn syrup, sugar, palm oil, skim milk, and less than 2% of milkfat, cocoa powder processed with alkali, barley malt extract, lactose, salt, egg whites, chocolate and artificial flavor.

The nougat in the US bar is listed with egg whites. No gelatin, alcohol or animal fat other than dairy appears on the list.

Milky Way's Contact and Help page does not mention halal, and we found no halal certification claim for the US product. Bars sold under the Milky Way name in other countries are a different recipe and are not covered here.

What to check before you order

Read the ingredient list on the pack, and check Midnight, Cookie Dough and other varieties separately. Imported Milky Way bars from the UK or Europe are a different product with a different list.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
