Is Nature Valley halal?
The Nature Valley bars we checked list no gelatin or meat ingredients, but General Mills makes no halal claim and the bars are not halal certified.
The longer answer
The Nature Valley website (checked October 2026) lists Oats 'n Honey Crunchy bars as whole grain oats, sugar, canola and/or sunflower oil, rice flour, honey, salt, brown sugar syrup, baking soda, soy lecithin and natural flavor.
The Peanut Sweet & Salty bar has a longer list that includes roasted peanuts, corn syrup, palm kernel oil, vegetable glycerin, whey, soy lecithin, barley malt extract and natural flavor. Neither list includes gelatin, and the glycerin is identified as vegetable.
Nature Valley's FAQ says most of its bars "are made with honey, dairy or whey". It has no question about halal, and we found no halal certification for Nature Valley in the US.
What to check before you order
Read the ingredient list on the exact bar, since the range is wide and includes coated and filled bars. "Natural flavor" is not broken down on the label.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
