Is Nissin (Cup Noodles and Top Ramen) halal?

No halal claim

Nissin makes no halal claim in the US. Chicken and Beef flavors contain chicken fat, chicken powder or beef fat. Top Ramen Soy Sauce and Chili are labeled vegetarian.

The longer answer

Nissin's US website lists ingredients for each flavor (checked October 2026). Cup Noodles Chicken and Top Ramen Chicken both list powdered chicken and rendered chicken fat. Cup Noodles Beef lists beef fat and powdered chicken. Nothing on these pages says the meat ingredients come from halal slaughtered animals.

Nissin's FAQ says: "Our Cup Noodles Stir Fry Sweet Chili flavor, Top Ramen Soy Sauce and Chili flavors, and Top Ramen Bowl Soy Sauce flavor contain no ingredients of animal origin." The Top Ramen Soy Sauce page lists noodles, vegetable oil, dehydrated soy sauce, spices and flavor enhancers, with no meat.

The FAQ does not mention halal, and we found no halal certification for Nissin's US products. Nissin noodles sold in other countries are made to different recipes and are not covered here.

What to check before you order

Look for the green VEGETARIAN leaf that Nissin puts on its meat-free flavors, and read the ingredient list for chicken fat, beef fat and powdered chicken on the others.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
