Is Pocky halal?
Pocky sold in the US has no halal claim. Glico says its only animal-derived primary ingredients are whole milk powder and lactose, and that it contains no alcohol.
The longer answer
The FAQ on Pocky's US website (checked October 2026) says: "Pocky sold in the US does not contain any primary ingredient derived from animals except for whole milk powder and lactose." It also says: "Pocky does not contain any alcohol even though 'chocolate liquor' is one of the ingredients in Pocky Chocolate." Chocolate liquor is ground cocoa bean, not an alcoholic drink.
The same FAQ says Pocky is not kosher at this time. It does not mention halal. The ingredient list for Pocky Chocolate on the US site includes enriched flour, sugar, chocolate liquor, vegetable oil, whole milk powder, vegetable shortening, cacao butter, artificial flavor, yeast, soy lecithin and mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids.
The wording "primary ingredient" leaves minor ingredients such as the mono- and diglycerides unexplained. We found no halal certification for US Pocky.
What to check before you order
Check where the box was made and whether it is the US version. Imported packs from Asian grocers follow different recipes, so read that pack's own list and see whether it carries a halal mark.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
