Is SkinnyPop halal?

No halal claim

SkinnyPop makes no halal claim. Original and two other flavors are certified vegan, while White Cheddar uses cheese made with enzymes of unstated source.

The longer answer

SkinnyPop is owned by The Hershey Salty Snacks Company. The brand FAQ on Hershey's site (checked October 2026) says: "We have a handful of products that are certified vegan, including SKINNYPOP Original, Sea Salt & Pepper, and Sweet & Salty Kettle." Original is described as made with three ingredients. The FAQ does not mention halal.

The dairy flavors are different. White Cheddar lists popcorn, sunflower oil, salt, organic cheddar cheese (organic milk, culture, salt, enzymes), whey, tapioca solids, rice flour, yeast extract, organic skim milk, natural flavor and lactic acid, and shows an OU-D kosher mark. The enzyme source is not stated. Butter lists whey, organic butter, organic skim milk and natural flavor.

We found no halal certification for SkinnyPop.

What to check before you order

The certified vegan flavors avoid the cheese enzyme question. For White Cheddar and other dairy flavors, check the list and ask Hershey about the enzyme source if it matters to you.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
