Is Sour Punch halal?
Sour Punch says most of its candies are Etimad Halal certified and contain no gelatin, but not every product carries the halal certification.
The longer answer
The Sour Punch FAQ from maker American Licorice Company (checked October 2026) says: "We're proud to share that the majority of Sour Punch candies are both Etimad Halal and Star-K Kosher certified!" It adds that some products may be certified through different agencies or may carry only one of the two certifications, and tells shoppers to check the product page.
The product pages bear that out. Sour Punch Rainbow Straws are shown with Star-K Kosher and Etimad Halal marks and described as "Kosher & Halal certified". Sour Punch Gummies, by contrast, show only a kosher mark and no halal mark.
On ingredients, the FAQ says Sour Punch candy "does not contain gelatin", including the Gummies. We did not look up the certificates on the certifier's own site.
What to check before you order
Look for the halal mark on the pack or on the product page for the exact item. The Straws we checked carry it, the Gummies did not.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
