Is Sour Strips halal?

No halal claim

Sour Strips says its candy is not directly made with any animal products, but it is not kosher certified and makes no halal claim.

The longer answer

Sour Strips is now part of Hershey, and its pages sit on Hershey's website. The brand's FAQ (checked October 2026) says the candy is made in a facility that also processes beeswax for other products, and continues: "although SOUR STRIPS candy are not directly made with any animal products, there may be trace amounts due to being produced in the same facility."

The brand page describes the candy as "vegetarian friendly". The same FAQ says Sour Strips "are unfortunately not kosher".

We could not read a full ingredient list on the pages that loaded for us, and we found no halal statement or halal certification for Sour Strips.

What to check before you order

Read the ingredient list on the bag to confirm there is no gelatin in the flavor you are buying. There is no halal or kosher mark to rely on.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
