Is Starburst halal?
US Starburst Original Fruit Chews contain gelatin and carry no halal certification.
The longer answer
The official US ingredient list for Starburst Original Fruit Chews includes gelatin. Starburst Gummies and Starburst Sour chews also list gelatin.
The product pages do not say which animal the gelatin comes from. Many websites say it is beef gelatin, but we could not find a Mars Wrigley statement to confirm that, and uncertified beef gelatin would still not be halal-certified.
We found no halal certification claim for US Starburst. Formulas differ by country, so a pack bought abroad may have different ingredients.
What to check before you order
Check the ingredient list for gelatin on the pack in your hand. Unless the pack carries a halal mark from a certifier, treat gelatin-containing Starburst as not halal.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
