Is Swedish Fish halal?

No halal claim

Swedish Fish carry no halal certification in the US; the US ingredient list has no gelatin and uses modified corn starch.

The longer answer

Mondelez's US product page for Swedish Fish Soft & Chewy candy (checked October 2026) lists sugar, invert sugar, corn syrup, modified corn starch, citric acid, white mineral oil, natural and artificial flavor, Red 40 and carnauba wax. Gelatin and carmine are not on that list. The brand page says nothing about halal and names no certifier. The source of the flavorings is not described. Recipes for Swedish Fish made outside the US can differ.

What to check before you order

Check the ingredient line on the pack, especially on imported or assorted bags, and look for a halal mark; none is shown for the US product.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
