Is SweeTarts halal?
Original SweeTarts list no gelatin, but SweeTarts Ropes and Gummy Halos do contain gelatin of unstated source. The brand makes no halal claim.
The longer answer
The SweeTarts website (checked October 2026) lists these ingredients for the Original roll: dextrose, maltodextrin, DL-malic acid, and less than 2% of calcium stearate, natural flavors and colors. No gelatin is listed. The source of the calcium stearate is not stated.
Other SweeTarts products are different. The Mega Rope lists gelatin along with wheat flour and "confectioner's glaze (vegetable oil [coconut, canola, palm], mono and diglycerides, lac resin)". Gummy Halos list corn syrup, sugar, water and gelatin among the first ingredients. The product pages do not say what animal the gelatin comes from.
The site has no FAQ on dietary questions. We found no halal statement from SweeTarts or its maker Ferrara.
What to check before you order
The tablet candy and the chewy or gummy products are not the same. Check any Ropes, gummies or chewy SweeTarts for gelatin and confectioner's glaze before buying.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
