Talenti makes no halal claim. Its gelato lists no gelatin in the flavors we read, but Double Dark Chocolate is made with vermouth and most flavors list vanilla extract.

Is Talenti halal? (checked October 2026)

The longer answer

Talenti's US FAQ (archived copy from September 2026, read October 2026) does not mention halal. It says: "All Talenti products are Kof-K kosher."

On alcohol, the FAQ addresses one flavor directly. Double Dark Chocolate lists vermouth as an ingredient, and Talenti says: "We do add vermouth to this flavor, but the alcohol is cooked off during the pasteurization process." Whether that is acceptable is a judgement for the reader. Several other flavors, including Sea Salt Caramel, Caribbean Coconut and Mediterranean Mint, list vanilla extract, and Talenti does not say what the extract is made with.

None of the gelato and sorbetto ingredient lists we read on Talenti's site (Sea Salt Caramel, Belgian Chocolate, Caribbean Coconut, Mediterranean Mint, Double Dark Chocolate and Roman Raspberry sorbetto) include gelatin or carmine. Many gelato flavors contain egg. The FAQ says the makeup of natural flavors is treated as proprietary by Talenti's suppliers. We could not read the ingredient lists for the Layers range.

What to check before you order

Avoid Double Dark Chocolate if you do not eat food made with vermouth. On other jars, look for vanilla extract, natural flavor and any liquor named in the ingredient list.
