Is Tootsie Roll halal?
Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Pops list no gelatin on Tootsie's website, but they contain milk ingredients and carry no halal claim.
The longer answer
Tootsie's product page for the classic Tootsie Roll (checked October 2026) lists: sugar, corn syrup, palm oil, condensed skim milk, cocoa, whey, soy lecithin, artificial and natural flavors. No gelatin is listed.
The Tootsie Pops Minis page lists sugar, corn syrup, palm oil, citric acid, condensed skim milk, cocoa, whey, artificial and natural flavors, soy lecithin, artificial colors and turmeric coloring, and shows a kosher dairy (OU D) mark. Again no gelatin, carmine or glaze is listed.
Whey is a dairy by-product of cheese making, and the pages do not say what enzymes were used. Tootsie's FAQ section covers nuts and gluten only. We found no halal statement or halal certification from Tootsie Roll Industries.
What to check before you order
Check the ingredient list on the pack, especially for flavored or seasonal versions. The flavors are listed only as "artificial and natural flavors" with no further detail.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
