Is NOW Foods halal?

Some items or locations

Some NOW Foods products are halal certified and carry a halal logo. NOW says its halal gelatin capsules use beef or fish gelatin, but not every product is certified.

The longer answer

NOW Foods' Halal Certification FAQ (checked October 2026) says: "Our halal products carry a logo guaranteeing certification from the ISWA Halal Certification Department." It adds that its halal gelatin-encapsulated supplements "use either bovine- or fish-derived gelatin, never porcine", and that halal products show a crescent moon with a large H on the bottle.

NOW's Gelatin Capsule FAQ says its two-piece hard capsules "are typically made of beef (bovine)" and its softgels "are typically derived solely from beef gelatin, not pork." It also says the company typically shows the gelatin source (bovine or fish) on the label, and that it sells many products in vegetable capsules.

Certification applies product by product. A NOW product without the halal logo should not be assumed to be certified.

What to check before you order

Look for the halal logo on the specific NOW bottle and read the gelatin source printed on the label (bovine or fish). Do not assume the whole range is certified.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
