Is Vital Proteins halal?
Vital Proteins makes no halal claim. Its collagen comes from bovine hides, fish or chicken, some products are kosher certified, and halal is not mentioned.
The longer answer
Vital Proteins' FAQ (checked October 2026) says its collagen is not vegetarian because "it's sourced from beef/fish/chicken", and that "Collagen Peptides are made from pasture-raised bovine hides." The Collagen Peptides product page describes the collagen as coming from "upcycled bovine hide". The company also sells a Beef Gelatin product.
The FAQ lists several products as kosher certified, including Collagen Peptides Capsules. It does not mention halal anywhere, and the product page makes no halal statement either.
Vital Proteins does not say whether the cattle are slaughtered in a halal manner, and we found no halal certification for any of its products.
What to check before you order
The collagen is animal-derived (mostly cattle hide) with no halal certification stated. If you want collagen with a halal certificate, look for a brand that shows a certifier's logo on the tub.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
