Is Activia halal?

No halal claim

Activia makes no halal claim in the US. Its FAQ says US products are kosher certified, and the ingredient lists we read on its site show no gelatin.

The longer answer

Activia's US FAQ (checked October 2026) does not mention halal. On kosher status it says: "Activia products in the US are kosher-certified by Rabbi David I. Sheinkopf." Kosher certification is not the same as halal certification.

The ingredient lists shown on Activia's probiotic products page do not include gelatin or carmine. The Strawberry low fat yogurt, for example, lists cultured reduced fat milk, cane sugar, strawberries, water, corn starch, and less than 1% of pectin, natural flavors, fruit and vegetable juice (for color), lemon juice concentrate and vitamin D3, plus live cultures. The thickeners named are corn starch, pectin and, in the drinks, modified food starch and inulin.

We found no halal certification claim from Activia or its maker Danone for US products.

What to check before you order

Check the ingredient list on the exact flavor, since recipes change. The lists we read use starch and pectin, not gelatin, and "natural flavors" are not broken down.

How we decide

We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
