Grocery and meat
Is Al Safa Halal halal?
Al Safa products are hand-slaughtered and certified by IFANCC (Canada) and IFANCA (US).
The longer answer
Al Safa's FAQ (checked October 2026) states: 'Al Safa products are certified by IFANCC (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of Canada) and IFANCA (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America).' Its Halal Promise page says 'The animal is hand slaughtered by a Muslim reciting the Tasmiyah and all blood is drained' and that IFANCC 'inspects, monitors, and verifies' compliance. The company is Alsafa Foods Canada Ltd.; most products are made in Canada and the US, with some items such as flatbreads imported. Named US retailers include ShopRite, H-E-B, Stop & Shop, Fiesta, Patel Brothers, Subzi Mandi, Apna Bazaar, Lotte Market and The Fresh Grocer, plus halal grocers; Walmart is not named.
What to check before you order
Look for the IFANCA or IFANCC mark on the package; frozen items are the main US format.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
