Grocery and meat
Is Babybel halal?
Babybel says its US cheese is not certified halal; it also says no animal rennet is used.
The longer answer
The Babybel US FAQ (checked October 2026) answers "Is the cheese kosher or halal?" with "No, our products are not certified kosher or halal." On rennet it says: "No rennet of animal origin is used in our products. We use a microbial enzyme". It also says Mini Babybel is suitable for lacto-vegetarian diets. So the brand states a non-animal enzyme and no halal certification.
What to check before you order
There is no halal mark on US packs. The brand's own statement is that the enzyme is microbial.
How we decide
We only report what the company or its certifier has said publicly, and we link to it below. We do not test food, and we do not take a brand’s word from a single franchise. If a location tells you something different from this page, trust the location and tell us.
